shelter

Met my Meg, she blogs at Awake and Dreaming. We have been besties for years now and I just love her socks off. She inspires me and encourages me and my life is so much richer with her in it.

A little tangent story... When we were waiting for babies it got to the point where it was just too painful to be around people with kids. We distanced ourselves from many people, Meg & Mr Evans included. So instead of getting offended and allowing hurt to fester (and it did hurt) she waited. And waited. And the day we told her about Luka there she and Mr Evans were. On our doorstep with gifts and hugs and love. And during the week I was waiting for Luka with everything going hula, there was Meg again. Her family is from the town that Luka was born in and the whole clan wrapped me in love. So that's my Meg, love in action. And that's why I would go to the ends of the earth for her.

Now Meg, she goes to the ends of the earth for so many people. Literally. She and Mr Evans just spent about 7 weeks in the Philippines. The same country that has just been devastated by the largest typhoon on record. The pictures of families torn apart and communities destroyed are heart breaking. It's easy to feel helpless in the face of such suffering. But Meg has an idea.

It's ShelterBox. I love it. It's box with everything a family needs to get back on their feet. It's a hand up not a hand out. Win.

A tent, blankets, tool kit, gifts for the small people, a stove and so much more. Even the box can be used to gather water or as a bed for the babies.

Shelterbox are already on the ground in the Philippines and we are trying to support as many boxes as we can. Meg said that through her initiative there are about 4 or 5 boxes donated already. That's a whole lot of people who are now safe and taken care of. They can begin to regroup & recover, moving from trying to survive to rebuilding.

Please would you join us? It's doesn't matter how little, every single bit counts. There's a link to Shelterbox on Meg's blog or go here.

Thanks friends, let's be Jesus' hands and feet xxx
